Trikes are a custom project โ€” very doable, but plan for extra parts and patience. The two universals (threaded 68โ€“73mm BB for mid-drive; open 100mm dropouts for front hub) still apply; the wrinkles are all about the stretched-out frame.

  • Extension cables are almost always needed. Trike frames are long and spread out, so stock cable lengths often won't reach. Battery and speed-sensor extensions are the most common; you may also need display, brake/throttle, and main-harness extensions depending on your layout. See Will I Need Extension Cables? (BBS02 / BBSHD Mid-Drive) for stock lengths.
  • Battery mounting can be awkward โ€” bottle-boss locations on trikes are hit or miss, so plan your mount early.
  • Recumbent trikes add steering-geometry challenges for placing the display, throttle, and brake levers โ€” expect to get creative.
Order extensions after you start the install, once you can measure the actual gaps. Because trikes are custom, a local bike shop can be a big help, and our install videos are good reference. Start with the Fitment Quiz.
