For a standard bike, usually not — the stock cables are sized to reach. Trikes, recumbents, and other long or stretched-out frames typically do need one or more extensions. Here are the stock mid-drive lengths so you can measure and plan.

Stock cable lengths (mid-drive)

  • Motor leads (speed sensor, main harness, and battery lead pigtails off the motor) — Stock length: ~18 in each · Reaches to: The pigtails coming off the motor body
  • Main wiring harness — Stock length: ~41 in · Reaches to: Combined with the motor's 18 in lead, about 59 in from the motor up to your display, throttle, and brake-lever connectors
  • Battery leads — Stock length: ~11 in · Reaches to: Combined with the motor's 18 in battery pigtail, about 29 in from battery to motor
  • Mechanical e-brakes — Stock length: ~6.5 in each · Reaches to: Brake lever to harness
  • Throttle — Stock length: ~6.5 in · Reaches to: Throttle to harness
  • LCD display — Stock length: ~8 in · Reaches to: Display to harness
