Cleaning an ebike is not the same as cleaning a regular bike โ€” there are electrical parts in play, so leave the hose in the shed.

Do not hose it down or pressure-wash it. That is the fastest way to force water into the motor, controller, and connectors. The right way:
  • Keep the bike upright.
  • Use a damp rag with water and, if needed, a little mild soap.
  • Wipe the frame and components down by hand.
  • Be especially gentle and careful around the connectors, the display, and the battery โ€” keep excess water away from all of them. Ideally, wipe these areas with a barely-damp cloth only.
  • Dry the bike thoroughly with a clean towel when you are done.
For the drivetrain (chain, cassette, chainring), use standard bike degreaser and chain lube โ€” just keep the spray off the electrical parts. Store the bike indoors or under cover when you are finished.
