Every Bafang kit and part comes with a 90-day manufacturer's warranty from the date of purchase. Here's what that covers, in plain terms.

What's covered

βœ… Covered: Genuine manufacturing defects on the original purchaser's order, within the continental US. If a part is defective through no fault of installation or use, we provide a replacement part. Warranty is limited to replacement parts only β€” it does not cover labor or shipping costs.

What's not covered

❌ Not covered:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Crash, collision, or accident damage
  • Water damage
  • Batteries damaged by power surges or the wrong charger
  • Commercial use (delivery, rentals, pedicabs) and specialty setups (tandem, cargo)
  • Component failures caused by misuse β€” for example blown controllers, fried motor coils, or worn gears from improper operation
  • Orders outside the continental US, and any owner who is not the original purchaser

What voids the warranty

🚫 Voids the warranty: These kits are DIY, and we love that β€” but a few modifications end coverage because they change the product from what we shipped and tested:

  • Cutting, splicing, or changing wire connections, or soldering
  • Reprogramming the controller or display
  • Adding grease, or otherwise disassembling or altering the product
  • Mixing in non-Ebike Essentials components, or installing parts the kit wasn't intended to work with

How to file a claim

Contact us with clear photos, video, and the serial number(s) of the affected part. Documentation lets us diagnose quickly and confirm it's a defect. We may ask you to ship the part back for testing before approving a replacement. Once a defect is confirmed, we send the replacement part your way.

If you're not sure whether something is a defect or an install issue, send the photos and video anyway β€” our tech support (Mon–Sat, 8am–5pm PST) will help you troubleshoot either way, and troubleshooting first often fixes the problem without any parts at all.
